Over $440,000 Raised at Second Annual Play Yellow Birdie Bash
Palm Beach Gardens, FL - Over $440,000 was raised by South Florida PGA Professionals who made 1,356 birdies during the Honda Classic Cares Play Yellow Birdie Bash Monday at PGA National. The funds raised will impact the South Florida PGA Foundation and the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation.
The 60 PGA and LPGA Professionals who competed took on PGA National’s Staple par-3 course and the Match course, playing 81 holes. With each birdie made, backed by donor pledges, the 30 teams playing, played a scramble format, vying to make as many birdies as possible.
“To hear the numbers and see the stories of those impacted throughout the community is astounding,” said Andrew George, Executive Director of the Honda Classic.
For the second consecutive year, Eric Veilleux, PGA and Ryan Fountain, PGA, representing the Bear’s Club, earned the top fundraising team with over $90,050 raised, topping their $70,000 raised in the event’s inaugural year, 2022. Adam Miller, PGA and Brett Blackburn, PGA out of Verandah Golf Club in Fort Myers carded the most birdies with 63.
The historic day ended with a special ceremony including speeches from Andrew George, Executive Director of the Honda Classic, Geoff Lofstead, Executive Director of the South Florida PGA, and Jack and Barbara Nicklaus, founders of the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation.
