The Nelson Cup Remains in the Southeast Chapter
Key Biscayne, FL - South Florida PGA Southeast Chapter hoists the 31st Nelson Cup trophy, defeating the Southwest and Southern Chapters, earning a total of 74.5 points, yesterday at Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne.

The Nelson Cup is an annual South Florida PGA Ryder Cup style tournament between the Southeast, Southwest and Southern Chapters. The day started with three-ball match play, offering the most possible points per player before ending the day with foursome match play/ alternate shot format.
Southeast jumped out to a narrow lead over Southwest and Southern after the morning matches, led by Stonebridge Country Club Teaching Professional in Boca Raton, Justin Hicks, PGA who swept his matches and earned the max of 6 points. Brett Melton, PGA of Dye Preserve and Paul Scaletta, PGA of the Bear’s Club were right behind, adding 5.5 points each to the total to bring the Southeast Chapter lead up to 5 after the opening round.
John Lee, PGA General Manager at Imperial Golf Club led the way for Southwest, winning both morning matches and securing the max points for his team. Dan Lee, PGA earned 5.5 while Justin Bertsch, PGA, Eric Costa, PGA and Justin Ahasic each added 4.5. For the Southern Chapter, Jared Isaacs, PGA of Adios Golf Club and Christian De Greiff, PGA of Coral Ridge Country Club both added 3.5 points.
Southeast began pulling away in the afternoon matches as Alan Morin, PGA of the Club at Ibis and Pete Oakley, PGA secured 5.5 points in the first afternoon match. Scaletta and Nick Beddow, PGA of Mayacoo Lakes Country Club added 5 more points as Southeast earned 26 total points in the afternoon matches, winning the cup by 15 points.
With the win, Southeast has now won five of the last six Nelson Cups, bringing their total up to 12 total wins (excluding 2020 - Pandemic / 2021 - Rain Out).
This year’s Nelson Cup was supported by Scales Gear who supplied uniforms for each Chapter.
