Jerry Tucker Named Captain of the 41st South Florida PGA Challenge Cup Team
Jerry Tucker, PGA of Jerry Tucker Golf in Stuart, will serve as the captain of the South Florida PGA Challenge Cup Team for the 41st Annual Challenge Cup matches against North Florida on October 26-28 at Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club.
The Challenge Cup is a long-standing tradition between PGA Professionals from North and South Florida. The format includes a first-round four-ball match play, a second-round foursome match play and a third-round singles match play.
“It truly is an honor to serve as captain of our Challenge Cup team,” said Tucker. “I have played in at least a dozen of these and still have lasting memories of shots, matches and the people involved. I have played with almost everyone on the team and I look forward to helping them any way I can.”
Tucker, who has been one of the best players in the south Florida section at every level has competed on many Challenge Teams throughout his over 20 years in the South Florida Section.
The Challenge Cup matches are an invitation-only event. Invitations are based on Player of the Year Points Standings where the top 10 juniors and two seniors from each Section are invited to compete.
The South Florida team will consist of: Tyler Collet, PGA of John’s Island Club, Taylor Collins, PGA of Coral Ridge Country Club, Austin Davenport, PGA of Dye Preserve, Gene Fieger, PGA of Club Pelican Bay, Andrew Filbert, PGA of West Bay Club, Kenny Leech, PGA of Don Law Golf Academy, Brett Melton, PGA of Melton Golf Academy, Mike Midgette, PGA of Delray Dunes Golf and Country Club, Mark Mielke, PGA of High Ridge Country Club, Alan Morin, PGA of The Club at Ibis, Justin Smith, PGA of Bonita Bay Club and Justin McCarraher, PGA of Fiddlesticks Country Club.
Roger Kennedy Sr., PGA of The Country Club at Mirasol will serve as the assistant captain.
