Crown Colony Golf and Country Club Hosts South Florida PGA West Coast High School Championship
Fort Myers, Florida - After two days and 36 holes of golf for the South Florida PGA West Coast High School Championship hosted at Crown Colony Golf and Country Club, Christopher Columbus High School took home the boys team title while Westlake Prep finished first in the girls division.
Christopher Columbus High School jumped out to an early lead as a team with a tournament low, 2-under-par round one followed by a 7-over final round to win the title by 15 strokes. They wrapped play at 5-over-par, 286-295-581.
Claiming the boys individual title, Noah Kent of Gulf Coast High School finished at 3-under-par, 69-72-141. Kent found success both days on the back nine, carding five birdies with zero bogeys over the two rounds.
Winning the girls team title, Westlake Prep finished at 30-over-par, 304-302-606. Leading the way for the Bulldogs, Sofia Cherif Essakali signed back-to-back cards of 1-over-par 73.
Before a girls individual champion could be named, a playoff was necessary as three players were tied at 2-over-par. Jordan Knox of Fort Myers High School, Angela Nip of The Sagemont School and Essakil teed it up in a sudden-death playoff where Nip would eventually claim the title. She wrapped play after two rounds at 2-over-par, 74-72-146.
The championship hosted 11 schools from the South Florida area with a total 76 competitors. Thank you Crown Colony Golf and Country Club for being a great host.
