TYLER AND BRYANT CAPTURE TITLE AT CHALLENGE TOUR EVENT #4
ATLANTIS, Fla. - This weekend, the South Florida PGA Junior Challenge Tour presented by The Honda Classic held Challenge Tour Event #4 at the Vineyards Country Club on the North Course in Naples, FL. The weekend provided excellent weather but some challenging winds!
In just his second SFPGA tournament, Tommy Tyler captured the first-place title this weekend. After opening with a solid round of 76, Tyler found himself two strokes off the lead. Battling another round in 15-20 mph wind, Tyler fired back shooting just two over par to take home the victory. In the Boys 16-18 Division, Jack Hasson shot a 79-77 to win in a scorecard playoff. For the Boys 13-15 Division, Payne McEntee took home 1st place with rounds 74-77 for an overall total of +7.
In the Girls 13-18 Division we had an exciting weekend and nail biter to say the least. With windy conditions and a wide range of scores from our top performers, anyone could take home the trophy at the end of the tournament. After Sunday's round we had a 3-way tie for 1st place between Katherine Schaefer, Kayla Bryant and Melanie Bailes. After just one hole, Kayla Bryant (73-79) won the overall playoff with a par. In the Girls 13-15 Division, Katherine Schaefer walked away victorious shooting 77-75 between the two rounds. In the Girls 16-18 Division, Melanie Bailes shot a solid 76 both days to take home the 1st place trophy.
In the Boys 11-12 Division, Jessy Huebner was on fire this weekend with phenomenal rounds of 72-69. After a 3-way scorecard playoff for 2nd place, Pavel Tsar (74-73) captured the title after shooting 37 on the back nine.
