Hall of Famer Alan Morin, PGA Set to Play in his 12th Honda Classic
Atlantis, FL – South Florida PGA Hall of Fame member Alan Morin, PGA will tee it up in his 12th Honda Classic this week at PGA National Resort & Spa, Champions Course.
This week’s event will be the first of two consecutive weeks for Morin on the PGA TOUR. The low-eligible player at the 2021 SFPGA Section Championship, also qualified for the Puerto Rico Open, played next weekend March 3-6.
Morin earned entry into the 2022 Honda Classic by way of his 2021 South Florida PGA Player of the Year honor, a title he has now claimed a record 11 times. The 52-year-old has also been the SFPGA Senior Player of the Year two times (’20, ’21).
These achievements, alongside numerous others, earned Morin entry into the South Florida PGA Hall of Fame late last year. Along with Jerry Tucker, PGA, the duo became the first two PGA members inducted based on playing achievements.
Morin’s 12 Honda Classic appearances are part of his 25 PGA TOUR events and 18 Korn Ferry Tour events, making the Assistant PGA Professional at The Club at Ibis no stranger to competing with the world’s best players.
“I thought last year might be my last year to play in the Honda,” said Morin, who has made the cut at Honda three times. “It’s quite the bonus for the Player of the Year to get to play in the Honda. I’ve gotten to meet so many great players at the Honda over the years. They see me and say, ‘Oh, you did it again. You beat up on all those kids.’”
Morin will tee off at 8:51 a.m. on Thursday and 1:46 p.m. on Friday with Max McGreevy and Adam Svensson.
