Cahill and Chang Add Second SFPGA Pro-Assistant Championship Title
West Palm Beach, FL - Matt Cahill, PGA and Dakun Chang, PGA of Seminole Golf Club win the South Florida PGA Pro-Assistant presented by Club Car and Global Golf Sales at The Park and Bear Lakes Country Club with a 14-under total.
Cahill, Head Professional and Chang, Assistant Professional at Seminole, now add their second Pro-Assistant title in only three years, previously winning the 2022 Pro-Assistant.
“I have a really good partner so we can just play our game and try to make a few putts. This is an awesome win” said Cahill.
The duo played round one at Bear Lakes Country Club in a scramble format, firing a 10-under 62 to put themselves in a tie for first going into the field round. Final round play took them to The Park, playing in a modified alternate shot format where they managed to card the tournament-low round for the alternate shot format at 4-under. Cahill and Chang managed to keep a bogey-free score throughout the 36-hole stretch, the only team in the field to do so.
“We have similar games and distances, so we can just play our shot”, said Cahill. “We didn't really have any mistakes and just kept it in front of us,” added Chang.
Finishing in second at 13-under was Matt Lucchese, PGA and Matt Ceravolo, PGA of The Loxahatchee Club. In a tie for third at 12-under was Kenny Leech, PGA and Diego Velasquez, PGA of Don Law Golf Academy and Robin Boretti, PGA and Alan Morin, PGA of The Club at Ibis.
The championship featured 87 teams composed of a PGA Professional and Assistant Professional from the same facility playing in two different formats. The format at The Park was a modified alternate shot while the format at Bear Lakes was a scramble.
Club Car and Global Golf Sales presented the 2024 SFPGA Pro-Assistant, which was supported by Ahead, Heritage Creations, NextRound, Pride Sports, Range Servant, and TRUE Linkswear.
