Back-To-Back Yamaha Pro-Pro Championships for Tyler Collet, PGA and Alan Morin, PGA
Naples, FL - Tyler Collet, PGA makes birdie on the second playoff hole to win the Yamaha Pro-Pro Championship, presented by Callaway Golf, for the second consecutive year with teammate, Alan Morin, PGA.
After two days and 36 holes, Collet, of John’s Island Club and Morin, of The Club at Ibis were tied at 19-under with Michael Berger, PGA and Matthew Campbell, PGA of Hammock Creek Golf Club. The two teams would play hole 18 at Hammock Bay Golf & Country Club until a winner was decided. After both teams made par on the first hole, Collet secured the win with a birdie on the second hole, sticking his approach shot within 10 feet and making the putt.
“It feels great to win, especially back-to-back and in back-to-back playoffs, " said Morin.
The duo started off on fire, carding an 11-under 61 in the first round at the Rookery at Marco, which included a bogey on the 18th hole, their only bogey of the week. Heading into the final round, Morin and Collet had a two shot lead over two teams. With a birdie on the first hole, the two were off once again, combining for eight birdies to finish the final round at 8-under 64.
“Our saying when we play together in tournaments is to win by ten, " said Collet. “It just really keeps us in the mindset to stay aggressive knowing there are several good teams right behind us.”
The Collet and Morin partnership began four years ago at this event as Collet was in search of a partner. He reached out to Morin who quickly said yes. Since then, the duo has finished in third, second and have now won twice.
Finishing in third place at 15-under was Jeremy Wells, PGA of Cypress Lake Golf Club and Evan Bowser, PGA of LaPlaya Golf Club.
The 2023 Yamaha Pro-Pro Championship was played over two days at Hammock Bay Golf and Country Club and The Rookery at Marco. Both rounds consisted of a best ball format.
