West Bay Club and Wyndemere Country Club Win 2018 Ireland Travel Pro-Am
Last week, 68 golfers participated in the 2018 Ireland Travel Pro-Am. Teams in the event were comprised of one PGA Professional and three amateurs.
After five rounds of golf at some of Southern Ireland's most famous golf links, one of the teams from West Bay Club and the team from Wyndemere Country Club came out victorious. Each day presented a new challenging golf course with unknown weather conditions that were ever changing by the hour.
The first two rounds contested at Dooks Golf Links and Waterville Golf Club featured two different formats. The winners of the first competition came from Wyndemere Country Club, lead by PGA Professional Tim Miller featuring amateurs Mike Busalacchi, Dan Clay and Mike McNamara. The final three rounds were contested at Ballybunion Golf Club, Hogs Head and Tralee. Claiming victory in the second challenge was West Bay Club's team lead by Nick Dwyer, PGA featuring amateurs Sandy Shevelow, Gail Chensoff and Wendy Pare.
In addition to the team competitions, a low professional event was contested durin each challenge. During the first challenge, Don Meadows, PGA Director of Golf at Quail Valley Golf Club and Danny St. Louis, PGA Director of Golf at The Breakers Rees Jones course tied for first place firing two-day totals of 149 (+6). In the second challenge, Alan Morin, PGA Assistant Professional at The Falls Club of the Palm Beaches took home first place with a three-day total of 217 (+2).
