SFPGA Challenge Tour Visits Sandhill Crane Golf Club
The South Florida PGA Junior Tour held a Challenge Tour Event at Sandhill Crane Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, FL this weekend, where junior golfers from ages 11-18 faced two days of intense competition on the golf course. The weather played a hand into the tournament as a few impending storms delayed play during both days of the event.
After firing a 73 in round one, Mateo Desmond (Pompano Beach, FL) shot a 70 during round two of the event which secured him the first-place spot in the 13-18 boys overall division. Layla Pedrique (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) walked away as the girls 13-18 overall champion after posting a 72-72 for a two-round total of 144.
The boys division featured an exceptional leader board with multiple juniors finishing at the top. The race for first place in the boys 11-12 division was extremely tight as both Jessy Huebner (Port Saint Lucie, FL) and Tristan Rhodenizer (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) fished the 36-hole event at even par. However, after a score card playoff, Jessy Huebner took home the first-place trophy after shooting rounds of 73, 71.
James Earle (Jupiter, FL) secured the first-place spot in the boys 13-15 division after shooting rounds of 70, 75 during the two-day tournament. In the girls 13-15 division, Gabriella DeGasperis (Jupiter, FL) came out on top with rounds of 79, 75 with a two-day total of 154.
In the girls 16-18 division, Chelsea Baker (Naples, FL) placed first in her division after shooting round or 80, 88 for a two-day total of 168. The winner of the boys 16-18 division was Jacob Paul (Parkland, FL) posting a 75, 72 for a two-round total of 147.
