Senior Challenge Cup Matches Held at Belleair Country Club
The 15th Annual North/South Florida PGA Senior Challenge Cup Matches were held at Belleair Country Club on October 26 and 27. The Challenge Cup Matches are a long-standing tradition between PGA Professionals from North and South Florida. The format includes 36-holes of match play competition consisting of nine holes of team scramble, team four-ball match play, modified foursome matches and singles matches.
South Florida led the first day of matches 7.5 to 4.5. North Florida fought back on the second day. It came down to the final match and, ultimately, North Florida claimed the cup with a 15.5 to 14.5 win. This ended the three-year streak for the SFPGA.
The Challenge Cup Matches are an invitation-only event. Invitations are based on OMEGA Player of the Year Points Standings where the top 10 seniors and two super seniors from each Section are invited to compete.
