Dave McNulty Receives South Florida PGA Patriot Award

ATLANTIS, FL – Dave McNulty, PGA Teaching Professional at the First Tee of the Palm Beaches receives the 2019 South Florida PGA Patriot Award, an award given for the first time at the Section level.

The Patriot Award recognizes a PGA member on the national level as someone who personifies patriotism through the game of golf and demonstrates unwavering commitment and dedication to all who have served the United States. This year marks the first time the South Florida PGA will honor a member on the Section level.

“I am so humbled by this award,” said McNulty. “I am so grateful for this great country’s veteran men and women, without them where would we be?”

Since becoming a Class A PGA member in 2009, McNulty has worked at The First Tee of the Palm Beaches where he has helped patients at the VA Hospital who suffer from PTSD practice golf and through the same has seen several people be taken off medication as a result of their involvement with golf.

Additionally, McNulty led the purchase of two paragolfer wheelchairs and started a wounded military program and opened The First Tee of the Palm Beaches to all military and their families to provide a place for them to practice and take lessons.

McNulty has also been heavily involved in the South Florida PGA Foundation’s PGA HOPE program and in 2015 coached the first PGA HOPE program in the South Florida Section and has since led six additional PGA HOPE programs in south Florida.

The Patriot Award is one of the South Florida PGA’s annual awards. Each award recipient as well as Hall of Fame inductees will be honored at the SFPGA Annual Awards and Hall of Fame Dinner on November 12th at the Country Club at Mirasol. Click here for a list of this year’s award winners.
