Nick Cupper Wins South Florida PGA Player Development Award

ATLANTIS, FL – Nick Cupper, PGA Teaching Professional at Weston Hills Country Club, wins the 2019 South Florida PGA Player Development Award.

The Player Development Award recognizes a PGA Professional who has made extraordinary contributions and achievements in player development. This award considers the Professional’s growth of the game and leadership commitment at both the Section and National levels, plus the impact he/she has made their own facility.

“It is such an honor to be recognized by the SFPGA for what we are doing at Weston Hills Country Club and throughout the South Florida Section,” said Cupper. “To me, player development is about always striving to be innovative within your club. It is important to me to always do the most I can to help players enjoy the game and be the best they can be.”

Cupper is dedicated to the programs he has instilled at his facility, including Operation 36 and his new project RTS Golf Academy at Eagle Trace Golf Club and Heron Bay Golf Club. Operation 36 was designed to challenge players in the program to shoot a score of 36 (par for 9 holes) or better from an attainable distance. Each player starts from 25 yards and works their way back to their appropriate tees. By working from green to tee-box, it lowers the challenge point and acts as a motivator to learn and progress in the game.

In addition to Operation 36 and Real Training Solutions Golf Academy, The First Tee of Broward County and a Veterans program are also offered to players wanting to learn and grow in the game.

Cupper’s programs are designed to help grow the game for individuals of all ages and caliber. Cupper hopes his work will inspire others to help grow the game at their own facilities.

At a Section level, Cupper has always been willing to host events at his facility, spread the word about the various opportunities the SFPGA has to offer and volunteer his time at events. Cupper continuously demonstrates a drive for the game of golf and the player’s success.

The Player Development Award is one of the South Florida PGA’s annual awards. Each award recipient as well as Hall of Fame inductees will be honored at the SFPGA Annual Awards and Hall of Fame Dinner on November 12th at the Country Club at Mirasol. Click here for a list of this year’s award winners.
