South Florida PGA Assistant Professionals Will Coleman, Kenny Leech, Brett McCurdy, Michael Welch and Ryan Zylstra are representing the South Florida PGA this weekend at the 43rd National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship at the PGA Golf Club.
The championship tees off this Thursday, November 14 from the Wanamaker Course at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The 72-hole Championship will conclude Sunday, November 17.
Forty-one states are represented in the 132-player field.
The South Florida PGA Professionals earned their way to the championship after qualifying at the SFPGA Assistant Championship in August, held at the Quarry Golf Club in Naples.
Coleman, who works at Mayacoo Lakes in West Palm Beach, shot an 8-under 64 to rally from a one-shot deficit to win. He made seven birdies, an eagle on the par-5 14th
hole and a bogey. Coleman birdied the 12th
holes, finishing at 13-under 131.
Michael Welch of Bonita National was second at 12-under 132, matching Coleman’s 64. Ryan Zylstra of the host course was third at 11-under after a 66.
Kenny Leech of Don Law Academy led by one after a first-round 68. Leech (66) tied for fifth at 137.
