South Florida PGA Junior Tour Kicks Off the 2020 Season with Challenge Tour Event #1

January 29, 2020 – The 2020 South Florida PGA Junior Tour, presented by the Honda Classic, began this past weekend with the first Challenge Tour event, February 1st-2nd, at the Country Club of Coral Springs.

The SFPGA Junior Tour provides first-class quality golf to the youth of south Florida and continues to expand its reach throughout the local regions, boasting over 1,000 junior memberships annually. During the 2020 season, the SFPGA will host approximately 100 Junior Tour events. 

The SFPGA Junior Tours offer golf programs from youth ages 6-18 ranging from beginner-level instruction to highly competitive, two-day, 36-hole tournaments. By offering varying playing divisions, the programs provide opportunities for junior golfers to be challenged on the course and encouraged to improve their skills.

Divisions for the SFPGA Junior Tour include:

·       The Junior Championship Tour & Junior Challenge Tour

o   Two premiere membership-based junior golf programs providing competitive and fun tournament experiences for golfers with the aspirations and skill levels to compete at the high school and collegiate levels. The Challenge Tour offers playing opportunities for golfers ages 11-18 while the Championship Tour is for golfers ages 13-18. Challenge and Championship Tour players are eligible for the five SFPGA Junior Tour major tournaments, click here to view the schedule. 

·       The Junior Prep Tour

o    The Prep Tour features one-day, 18-hole events for junior golfers ages 9-18 who have some prior playing experience.

·       The Links Tour

o   For junior golfers ages 6-14 with beginning level golf experience the Links Tour offers an introduction to tournament play through a 9-hole stroke play competition. 


In addition, to the different tours offered, juniors across south Florida are invited to participate in one of the 10 FREE local qualifiers for the national Drive, Chip and Putt Competition, aimed at sparking a lifelong interest in the game. Click here for more information and for a full list of qualifiers. 

The South Florida PGA requires all juniors participating in Links, Prep, Challenge or Championship Tours to become members of the SFPGA Foundation.  Junior golfers wanting to participate are required to pay an annual (January - December) $55 membership fee that includes a golf shirt, hat, bag, towel and more.
