Jared Isaacs and Jay Brooks Take the South Florida PGA Pro-Scratch Championship
Jared Isaacs, PGA Professional at Adios Golf Club and amateur Jay Brooks from PGA National fired a 17-under 127 to win the South Florida PGA Pro-Scratch Championship at Broken Sound – Old Course and Bocaire Country Club.
The South Florida PGA Pro-Scratch Championship is a two-day event featuring the best PGA Professionals and amateurs from south Florida, playing a best-ball format in twosomes, one scratch golfer and one PGA professional.
Isaacs and Brooks posted a 12-under 60 after their first round at Broken Sound – Old Course and shot a five-under 67 today at Bocaire Country Club. Andrew Filbert, PGA of West Bay Club and amateur James Tureskis went 9-under today and 8-under yesterday, also finishing at 17-under to force a playoff between the two teams.
After a rain delay paused play while Isaacs and Brooks were on 17 tee, the duo came back from the delay to make eagle, thanks to a Brooks’ chip in on the par-5 17th hole.
Brooks continued his clutch play down the stretch by hitting his approach on the first playoff hole to four feet, making for an easy tap-in birdie to seal the victory.
Isaacs and Brooks carded 14 birdies and 2 eagles throughout the two days of play.
Finishing in a tie for third at 15-under were Matt Doyle, PGA Professional at Turtle Creek and Pete Williams and Will Coleman, PGA Professional at the Club at Admirals Cove and Brandon Smith
The Pro-Scratch is supported by Bushnell Golf, The Lincoln Motor Company, PXG, On the Green CBD, Scales, Therabody, Precise Yardage Books and the Winner’s Award Group.
