GILES AND SMITH CAPTURE 2018 SFPGA JUNIOR TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP
ATLANTIS, Fla. - This weekend, the South Florida PGA Junior Tour Championship presented by The Honda Classic was held on the Estates Course at PGA National in West Palm Beach, FL. The invitation only field, consisting of South Florida's top junior golfers, did not disappoint Garrett Giles of Palm City, FL put together two great rounds of golf this weekend. Opening with a great score of 74, Giles was right in the hunt for the overall trophy. Just two strokes behind the leader after round 1, Giles fired back with an impressive 70 on Sunday. Coming in just behind Giles was Fynn Fenstermacher shooting 73-72. Fenstermacher ended up winning the boys 16-18 age division and was outstanding all weekend long, giving Giles a tough fight right up until the end. Winning the boys 13-15 age division was Tyler Stachkunas, of Wellington, FL. Stachkunas opened up with a 77, firing right back with an even par 72 on Sunday.
Andie Smith of Hobe Sound, FL took home the title for the girls division this weekend. Smith played excellent all weekend long posting a 72-74. Battling against a tough course and strong winds, Smith also had to stay focused with some great players right behind her. Coming in a close second overall, and winning the girls 13-15 division was Skylee Shin (73-74). These two were neck and neck all weekend long, this title wasn't secured until Smith made a birdie on hole 18 to secure the win.Agatha Alesson of Weston, FL took home the girls 16-18 division poting a 76-75. Pavel Tsar of Palm Beach Gardens, FL captured the boys 11-12 division this weekend. Tsar put together two great rounds of 77 for a two day total of 154. Just behind Tsar was Victor Herrera posting 81-78. Miriam Barcalova of Boynton Beach, FL took home the title for the girls 11-12 division shooting 89-82.
