FISCHER AND OWENS CAPTURE CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR EVENT #2
ATLANTIS, Fla. - This weekend, the South Florida PGA Junior Championship Tour presented by The Honda Classic held Championship Tour Event #2 at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. This event was the second Championship Tour of the season!
The boy's division featured some heavy hitters this weekend. After round 1 we had 4 players all within 2 strokes of each other. Defending champion, Jeffery Liss opened with a 71, one under par to take the lead by just 1 stroke. Paired up with Liss, was Wellington native, Cameron Owens who is coming back from an injury in late 2018. On Sunday, these two players had an outstanding second round and were tied through 12 holes. After hole 12, Owens finished out with 3 more birdies for a career low of 66 to solidify his victory. Liss ended up with a first place finish in the Boys 16-18 division (71-74). In the boys 13-15 division, Jackson Kustin won in a scorecard playoff after shooting 75-70 against Andres Barraza.
Jordan Fischer, of North Ft. Myers, FL had an outstanding weekend opening with a 72 and a hole in one on Saturday. After winning the Championship Tour Event #1, Fischer showed everyone that she was capable of winning event #2 as well. However, Fischer had three players looking for a victory just 2 strokes back. On Sunday, Fischer had another outstanding round of 71 on Sunday to secure her 2nd victory of the year. In the Girls 16-18 division, Caroline Patterson, of Jupiter, FL shot a 75-73 to capture that age division by 5 strokes. In the 13-15 age division, Valentine Savioz had a great weekend of 74-76 to take home victory.
