Ben Cook, PGA Assistant Golf Professional at John’s Island Club in Vero Beach, shot a 67 to qualify for the Corales Puntacana Championship of the PGA TOUR.
After bogeying the first hole today at The Preserve at Ironhorse, Cook rebounded with seven birdies to shoot 67 and edge out Austin Davenport, PGA by one stroke. Davenport capped off his round with a birdie on 17 and an eagle on the last but fell just shy of Cook, shooting a 68.
By winning the one-day Class A Qualifier, Cook will be the South Florida PGA representative in the Corales Puntacana Championship, played March 26-29, 2020 in the Dominican Republic.
The Corales Puntacana Championship is now in its third season of existence and the South Florida PGA has been represented each of the last two years. Andrew Filbert, PGA played in 2018 and Justin Bertsch, PGA competed in 2019.
This will be Cook’s first trip to the Dominican Republic for the Corales Puntacana Championship and his second start on the PGA TOUR. Cook previously competed in May at the 101st
