Bo Preston, PGA and Team Win the South Florida PGA HOPE Cup
BOCA RATON, FL – Bo Preston, PGA and his team of PGA HOPE Graduates fired a seven-under 29 to win the Second Annual South Florida PGA HOPE Cup this morning at St. Andrew’s Country Club.
Preston, PGA General Manger at The Links at Boynton Beach, and his team of PGA HOPE graduates – Patrick Miller, Christine Olivarez, Richard George and Theolene Johnson - were determined winners after a scorecard playoff with Lynn Bernstein, PGA and company.
The Cup, which began last year, brings together 20 PGA Professionals and 80 past PGA HOPE participants for a fun day of golf. Playing together, in a nine-hole, five-person scramble, each team has one thing in common: PGA HOPE Graduate.
PGA HOPE affords veterans throughout the south Florida community an opportunity to learn the game of golf at zero cost to them. Learning and playing the game of golf is a proven activity which has helped thousands of veterans assimilate into their community through the social interaction the game of golf provides.
Each program is six-weeks, where PGA Professionals provide free golf lessons to HOPE participants, leading to their graduation at the end of the program.
As of this year, the South Florida PGA HOPE program has impacted 1,090 veterans through 72 programs. The participants in this year’s PGA HOPE Cup have all graduated from a program and each participating PGA Professional is a certified PGA HOPE instructor.
The winning team was awarded PGA HOPE and South Florida PGA Foundation co-branded Callaway golf bags.
PGA HOPE is just one of many programs the South Florida PGA Foundation offers to use golf as a vehicle to make a positive impact on the community. Click here to learn more about the SFPGA Foundation.
The special day and round of golf would not have been possible without the support of SFPGA President and Director of Golf at St. Andrews Country Club Paul Clivio, PGA and his entire team for hosting our nation’s heroes.
