NAPLES (July 19, 2022) – It took a ton of birdies to make the playoff, but only a par for Alan Morin, PGA of The Club at Ibis and Tyler Collet, PGA of John’s Island Club to win the Yamaha Pro-Pro Championship at Hammock Bay Golf and Country Club.

Morin and Collet parred the first playoff hole Tuesday, the difficult par-4 18th, to win when the other two teams -- Zachary Wood, PGA of Broken Sound Club/New Course and Patrick Ross of Mizner Country Club and Jeremy Wells, PGA of Cypress Lake Golf Club and Michael Welch of Kensington Golf & Country Club – bogeyed the hole.
None of the three teams made a bogey during the 36-hole event. That’s golf.
Morin and Collet shot 7-under 65 at The Rookery at Marco to finish at 15-under 129. Wood and Ross matched the 65 at The Rookery, while Wells and Welch had a 64 at Hammock Bay, where the playoff started on the 18th hole.
“It’s not an easy hole,” Collet said. “Alan hit a good drive and I stepped up and hit one down the middle. We both had birdie putts. You don’t usually win these things with a par.”
“That was unexpected,” said Morin, who also won the 2017 Pro-Pro with partner Brett McCurdy. “It was tough to see some unexpected drives and both of them lipped out putts. What a crazy ending.”
Morin and Collet have become a formidable team. They finished second in this event last year and have won a pair of Southeast Chapter team events.
“We’re both really consistent and we usually are good for about four to six birdies a round,” Collet said.
Two teams tied for fourth place, a shot out of the playoff, at 14-under 130: Adam Miller, PGA (66) and Jon Balyeat, PGA of Quail Creek Country Club and Daniel Heaslip, PGA (66) of Windstar on Naples Bay and Justin Bertsch, PGA of Club Pelican Bay. Jason Robinson, PGA of Country Club at Mirasol and Will Coleman, PGA of The Club at Admiral’s Cove were sixth at 13-under 131 after 67.
Defending champions Andrew Filbert, PGA (63-133) of West Bay Club and Justin Smith, PGA of Bonita Bay Club tied for 10th.
The Yamaha Pro-Pro Championship is run by the South Florida PGA with Callaway also a presenting partner. Supporting partners are Dunning/Greg Norman, Global Golf Sales, Hole-in-One USA, PGA Tour and Winner’s Award Group.
