Loretta Giovannettone, PGA Clenches Women's Section Championship Title

October 8th, 2021

Loretta Giovannettone, PGA of High Ridge Country Club won the 2021 South Florida PGA Women’s Section Championship today at The Club at Quail Ridge in Boynton Beach.

The SFPGA Women’s Section Championship was established in 2020 as a way to encourage more female professionals to compete in tournaments and socialize with their peers. For the second consecutive year, this event was played at The Club at Quail Ridge over the course of two days.

Giovannettone led the field by one stroke after her first-round 74, but it was ultimately her second-round 70 that won her the title. Giovannettone carded six birdies over the two days, five of which were during her second round.

Alex Jacobsen, PGA of The Golf Club of the Everglades finished three strokes behind Giovannettone with a two-day total 147 followed by Taylor Collins, PGA of Coral Ridge Country Club.

In addition to this event being the only women’s-only event on the South Florida PGA Section schedule, the name of the trophy holds a special story. This trophy was named after Pam Brosnihan, PGA Professional at Quail Ridge from 1992 until she passed in 2014 when she lost her fight against cancer. The South Florida PGA continues to strive to keep her legacy alive through events of this nature.

The South Florida PGA would like to thank Dan Brosnihan, PGA and his team at The Club at Quail Ridge for hosting these ladies this week and their continuous support of women’s golf.
