Team St. Louis / McCurdy Win 2018 Yamaha Junior Senior
July 23rd 2018 - JUPITER (July 23, 2018) – Eagles were flying Monday for Danny St. Louis and Brett McCurdy in the South Florida PGA Yahama Junior Senior Championship at Jupiter Country Club.

St. Louis, the PGA Director of Golf at The Breakers Rees Jones Course in West Palm Beach, and McCurdy, his First PGA Assistant, eagled consecutive holes in – get this – the alternate-shot portion – to shoot a 13-under 59 and win by four shots.

McCurdy holed a 101-yard sand wedge on the par-4 third hole and St. Louis made a 5-foot eagle on the par-5 fourth hole. Kind of their day, huh?

“I’m sure it’s never happened in alternate shot before,” St. Louis said of the back-to-back eagles. “We were 5-under in both best-ball and alternate shot, and 3-under in the scramble (the teams played six holes of each format).”

St. Louis got the ball rolling, literally, with five consecutive birdies to open their round starting on the 13th hole. At the third hole, McCurdy’s drive went 40 yards past St. Louis’, but that left an awkward distance of 65 yards.

“So we went back to Danny’s ball and it was a perfect 60-degree yardage,” McCurdy said. “I hit it 15 feet behind the hole and it rolled down the hill and into the cup. I said, ‘told you!”

At No. 4, after a good drive by St. Louis, McCurdy hit a 6-iron from 220 yards to 5 feet and St. Louis made the putt. St. Louis, 63, won this event in 2005 with Alan Morin with a tournament record of 14-under 57 at The Links At Boynton Beach.

“As the director of golf playing with one of his assistants, it’s always special to win,” St. Louis said. “You’re playing with someone you spend every day with.”

The teams of Mark Mielke-Steve Delaney and Lee Rinker-Lee Stroever tied for second place with 63s. Six teams tied for fourth with 64s.
