Defending Champions Claim Victory at Senior-Super Championship

Defending Champions Matt Markle, PGA of Island Country Club and Life Member Mike San Filippo, PGA won the South Florida PGA Senior-Super Senior Championship on Tuesday at Indian Spring Country Club.

 

This duo went 10-under and carded seven birdies on the back nine. Ultimately, it was Markle's chip-in on the first playoff hole that led them to victory.

 

Joe Kern, PGA of The Moorings at Hawks Nest Golf Club and Nick Manolios, PGA Life Member took home second place honors. In a tie for third was the team consisting of Mike McLellan, PGA of Indian Spring Country Club and Clark Sisson, PGA of Quail Valley Golf Club and the team consisting of Jack Shoenfelt, PGA of Oriole Golf and Tennis Club and Jerry Tucker of Jerry Tucker Golf.

 

Markle and San Filippo are the defending champions of not only this event but the 2021 Senior Series Pro-Pro as well.

 

A total of 14 teams participated in the event. The format was an 18-hole team stroke play event. The front nine consisted of four-ball stroke play while the back was completed as a two-person scramble.
