As the Junior Tour approaches the end of the season, registration for the remaining events has opened up to all Challenge and Championship Tour players. PGA Golf Club in Port. St. Lucie hosted our juniors this weekend and it was a weekend to go low.
Alexander Weinberg of Palm Beach Gardens claimed the boys 13-18 division title on Sunday after shooting a career-low 65 on the Ryder Course to finish the tournament at four-under-par. Weinberg’s two rounds saw 10 birdies, including four straight birdies on the back during his second round. Jack Quinn of Palm Beach Gardens finished two strokes behind Weinberg. Quinn also had a career-low round of 68 on Sunday.
Bringing home the win in the girls 13-18 division was Katherine Schaefer of Hollywood with rounds of 74 and 69 to finish one-over. Schaefer carded two straight birdies on the back during her second round and kept her scorecard bogey-free. Abigail Smith of Port. St. Lucie edged out Zoe Shamy of Jupiter in a scorecard playoff to earn a second-place finish. Smith went 72-75 to finish five-over-par.
Brooks Colton of Riviera Beach won the boys 11-12 division after a two-day total of 138 with rounds of 71 and 67. Colton carded six birdies during his two rounds. Nicholas Brown of Sarasota won the scorecard playoff against Sarp Gurdogan of Palm Beach gardens to claim a second-place finish with a two-day total of 142. This marks a first-time second-place finish for Brown.
Leah Gram of Jupiter took home the win in the girls 11-12 division with rounds of 88 and 81. Gram’s highlight came from her birdie on the 18th hole during Sunday’s round. Avery Deal of Naples finished second with back-to-back rounds of 88.
The shot of the weekend comes from Marley Pedrique of Palm Beach Gardens with an ace on the fifth hole on Saturday. Congratulations, Marley!
