Gene Fieger, PGA Captures 2018 South Florida Senior Open

Gene Fieger got out to an early lead by firing a 3 under par 69 in round 1 of the South Florida PGA Senior Open Championship and used a 35 minute stretch in round 2 to solidify his third victory in the championship. Monarch Country Club in Palm City hosted the 31st playing of the championship.

“I went birdie, birdie, eagle on holes 6-8 and it allowed me to build a lead and some momentum heading to the final holes,” Fieger said. Fieger went on to post a 68 for a two day total of 137, 7 under par and a six shot victory over JC Anderson and Marty Stanovich who both posted 1 under par, 143. Jerry Tucker shot rounds of 69-67 to win the 60-69 age division while Jay Horton shot 71-70 to win the 70-74 age division. Tom Joyce shot 70-70 to win the 75 and over age division.
