Fort Myers, FL – Twenty-seven PGA Professionals came out to Verandah Club for Senior Series #2. The 18 hole stroke play event was tightly packed at the top of the leaderboard as eight players broke par including six rounds in the 60’s on the par 72 layout! Gene Fieger, PGA Director of Golf at Club Pelican Bay and Dan Heaslip, PGA Director of Golf at Windstar on Naples Bay led the way with matching scores of 67 (-5). It took two extra holes to determine a champion as Fieger and Heaslip both parred the first playoff hole. Fieger claimed the overall championship with a birdie on the last playoff hole. After striking a knockdown wedge shot to 2 feet, he was able to tap in for the victory after a birdie attempt from the front bunker by Heaslip burned the edge of the hole. In the Super-Senior division, Steve Benson, PGA Life Member claimed the title with a nearly flawless round of 71 (-1) featuring two birdies against only one bogey. A big thank you goes out to Verandah Club for being gracious hosts and donating their facility for this event! Click HERE for the full results from today's event.
