FISCHER AND THARRINGTON CAPTURE FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR EVENT OF 2019
February 17th 2019 - ATLANTIS, Fla. – This weekend, the South Florida PGA Junior Championship Tour presented by The Honda Classic held Championship Tour Event #1 at the Country Club of Coral Springs in Coral Springs, FL.  The sold out field featured many of South Florida’s top junior golfers.
 
The girls division featured a thriller weekend at the Country Club of Coral Springs. Jordan Fischer of North Ft. Myers, FL opened with an even Par round of 71. One stroke back was Kelly Shanahan of Coral Springs, FL. On Sunday afternoon, both battled gusty winds and fast greens in hopes to bring home the Overall Trophy. Fischer finished with an impressive 72 which was just enough to finalize her victory. Shanahan with a round 2 score of 73, she was the champion of the girls 13-15 division. For the girls 16-18 division, we had a scorecard playoff after both Alena Lindh and Laura Lou were tied with a two day total of 150. Laura Lou was able capture the 16-18 division with an outstanding even par round on Sunday.
 
The boys division had a stacked leaderboard after round 1. With two 69’s posted and a handful of players right behind that, many players had a chance at victory on Sunday. From Boca Raton, FL, Jack Tharrington was able to secure victory with a two day total of 143. For the boys 13-15 division, Tyler Stachkunas took home first place shooting 69-77. In the boys 16-18 division, Garret Giles of Palm City, FL won after posting just 3 over par for both rounds.
