Seventy-seven juniors competed in the Championship Tour event at Old Marsh Golf Club. Players battled a three-hour weather delay on Thursday afternoon but were able to complete all 36 holes.
Chris Calvani of Palm Beach Gardens edged out Chase Cohen of West Palm Beach after a two-hole sudden death playoff in the boys 13-18 division. Calvani went 71-73 to finish the tournament at even par. His two rounds included nine birdies. Cohen’s two rounds saw him seven birdies.
Gabriella Degasperis of Jupiter took home the girls 13-18 division title with a two-day total of one-under-par, including an impressive second round 67. DeGasperis carded four consecutive birdies on holes 2-5. Zoey Iglesias of Port St. Lucie placed second in her final Championship Tour event after finishing one-over-par for the tournament. Iglesias is headed off to Anderson University this fall to begin her collegiate golf journey.
Jaden Peterson of Port St. Lucie won the boys 11-12 division after a two-day total of seven-under-par with rounds of 69 and 68. Peterson finished his second round with three consecutive birdies. Tyler Lilienfeld of Palm City took second place after finishing back-to-back rounds of 70 to go four-under-par.
The shot of the day comes from Matthew Pollak of Jupiter who holed out from 120 yards to make a birdie after a blind second shot location on the fifth hole.
