The South Florida PGA overtime has awarded countless PGA members who have worked hard to serve the PGA Associations with an annual award.  To view a all receipents please click on the category for each award.
 
Award 2019 Recipient

Golf Professional of the Year

The highest honor a PGA Golf Professional can receive, this professional is recognized for his/her overall performance, level of service to the Association, leadership, image and the ability to inspire fellow professionals and promote the game of golf.

Quail Valley Golf Club

Teacher of the Year

Recognizes the professional who provides outstanding service as a golf instructor. The recipient is selected based on his/her efforts in promoting golf, use of teachings, involvement in junior golf activities, and teaching techniques.


Gayle Leslie, PGA

Rick Smith Golf Performance Center

Horton Smith Award

Recognizes the professional who provides outstanding and continuous contributions in developing and improving educational opportunities for the PGA Professional.

Jim McLean, PGA

The Jim McLean Golf School

Deacon Palmer Award

The “Deacon Palmer Award” bestows special recognition on a PGA Golf Professional who personally displays outstanding integrity, character and leadership, in the effort to overcome a major obstacle in their life. This individual is an unsung hero/heroine at their facility and in their community, who serve to inspire, empower and assist others, both inside and outside of the game.

Bill Strausbaugh Award

Recognizes the professional whose overall commitment is to promoting the game, the Association, and fellow PGA Professionals. This professional is honored for his/her integrity, leadership ability, professional mentoring and community involvement related to golf activities.

Recognizes the PGA Professional who has made extraordinary contributions and achievements in the area of player development.

Nick Cupper, PGA

Youth Player Development Award

previously known as Junior Golf Leader Recognizes the professional who uses his/her leadership skills to promote and develop junior golf at both the club and community levels.

Bela Nagy, PGA

Sandridge Golf Course

Assistant of the Year

Recognize the individual’s overall performance as an assistant through his/her willingness to accept responsibility, promotion of the game, and his/her promotion of the overall image of the PGA.

Foxfire Country Club

Merchandiser of the Year – Public

Recognizes the professional that has demonstrated superior skills as a merchandiser in the promotion of golf with a focus on the individual’s inventory, shop display, staff, and merchandising techniques at a public facility.

Casey Mitchell, PGA

Merchandiser of the Year – Private

Recognizes the professional that has demonstrated superior skills as a merchandiser in the promotion of golf with a focus on the individual’s inventory, shop display, staff, and merchandising techniques at a private facility.

Brad "JR" Friend, PGA

Boca West Country Club

Merchandiser of the Year – Resort

Recognizes the professional that has demonstrated superior skills as a merchandiser in the promotion of golf with a focus on the individual’s inventory, shop display, staff, and merchandising techniques at a resort facility.

Holly Taylor, PGA

PGA Golf Club

Salesperson of the Year

The Salesperson of the Year Award honors a sales representative (hard or soft good) serving the Section who has made significant contributions to the game of golf at the Section level and within his/her company and whose overall performance as a sales representative including service to accounts, overall integrity, courtesy, and professionalism is second to none.

Patriot of the Year
The Patriot Award recognizes a PGA member on the national level as someone who personifies patriotism through the game of golf and demonstrates unwavering commitment and dedication to all who have served the United States. 2019 marks the first time the South Florida PGA will honor a member on the Section level.
