August 31st, 2018

BOCA RATON (Aug. 31, 2018) – Colin Amaral, PGA Teaching Professional at the Country Club at Mirasol along with amateur Mike Connors shot a 10-under 62 Friday to win the Pro-Scratch Championship presented by PXG and Discover Global Network.

Amaral and Connors had five birdies on each nine of the Old Course at Broken Sound without a blemish on the scorecard for the 62. The event was played under a best-ball format.

“Mike hit the par-5 in two and made a birdie and I chipped in at 17 for birdie, so it was a great round,” Amaral said. “It’s always great to win a tournament with a friend.”

They won by a shot over Michael Valicenti, PGA Assistant Golf Professional at Jonathan’s Landing Golf Club Golf at Old Trail and amateur Shaun Stanek, who shot a bogey-free 63.

Mark Mielke, PGA Life Member and Kyle Williams had birdies on six of the first seven holes, before settling for a 64. Kenneth Leech, Associate at the Don Law Golf Academy at Osprey Pointe and Ricky Hendler also started strong with birdies on six of their first eight holes, but also cooled off for a 64.

The Pro-Scratch Championship presented by PXG and Discover Global Network, run by the South Florida PGA, is supported by Bushnell, CamelBak and 18Birdies.
