SFPGA Hosts 2019 Annual Meeting of the Membership,Karl Bublitz, PGA Elected 21st President of the South Florida PGA

Neil Lockie, PGA Elected as the New Secretary
 
6-19-2019 – The South Florida PGA hosted the 2019 Annual Meeting of the Membership, supported by Discover Global Network and PGA National Golf Resort and Spa at Boca West Country Club this morning and welcomes former Vice President Karl Bublitz, PGA as President and Neil Lockie, PGA as the newest section officer. Lockie will enter as Secretary while Bublitz will take over for Don Meadows, PGA whose term as 20th President of the SFPGA ended today.
 
Nearly 200 PGA Professionals gathered this morning to hear from current SFPGA officers before welcoming the new officers to the stage. President Don Meadows, PGA, Vice President Karl Bublitz, PGA and Secretary Scott Kirkwood, PGA provided reports to the membership regarding the status of the section.
 
Honorary Past President Mark VanDyck, PGA updated the membership on the South Florida PGA Foundation whose mission is to impact lives throughout the south Florida community through the game of golf and spread the game of golf as well as enhance education byway of scholarships PGA HOPE and Smiling Fore Life. In addition, VanDyck announced the building of the Section’s eighth Habitat for Humanity home to come this September in San Juan, Puerto Rico as part of the Foundation’s goal to build a house in each of the 14 Section counties.
 
VanDyck also went in-depth on the impact of PGA HOPE which provides veterans access to golf, helping to reduce PTSD and other post-war illness which many veterans suffer from. Madeline Mollach and Patrick Crockett, veterans who have been directly impacted through their participation in the HOPE program, gave tearful testimonies about their experiences, inspiring the audience to keep making an impact through the game of golf.
 
The meeting opened with a presentation of the colors by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office Color Guard and the singing of the national anthem by Monica Berovides-Hidalgo. Following each officer’s presentation and an update from Executive Director Geoff Lofstead, the membership enjoyed a presentation from guest speaker, Senior Managing Director of Frieda Partners, Bruce Crowley, a behavior economist. He touched on organizational culture and enhancing the workplace and the people within.
 
The meeting closed with the election of new Secretary Neil Lockie and sent off Meadows with a green jacket into his Honorary Past President role. VanDyck will continue to serve theSection and the National PGA landscape through his role as District 13 Director which represents the Sections of South and North Florida and Georgia.
