PALM CITY, Fla. – South Florida PGA pros remained unbeaten Tuesday, winning for the seventh straight year in the Senior Challenge Cup matches against pros from the North Florida PGA Section.
Playing a series of four nine-hole matches over two days at The Fox Club, the SFPGA won each session for a 20 ½ to 9 ½ victory. The 11-point margin was the widest in match history.
South Florida won a two-man scramble Monday morning, 4-1 with one halve; four-ball match play Monday afternoon, 3-2 with a halve; 4-0 with two halves in foursomes Tuesday morning; and 7-4-1 in singles Tuesday afternoon.
Billy Ziobro of Palm Beach Gardens was captain of the SFPGA, Alex Romanoff, Valkaria, the playing captain for the NFPGA. Each team was comprised of 12 PGA professionals 50 years and older.
The 32nd annual Challenge Cup is scheduled Oct. 16-17 at the Lost Tree Club in North Palm Beach. The SFPGA leads 20-9 with two halved matches. Each side has two seniors and 10 in the open division.
