Mielke, 2017 Naples Beach Club Open Champion

NAPLES, Fla. –After a one year hiatus due to a major golf course renovation, the Naples Beach Club Senior Open Championship was contested this weekend.  This marked the fifth time this event has been contested and this year it featured eighty-eight players competing in four different age divisions.

Finishing atop the leaderboard after three solid rounds of golf was Mark Mielke, SFPGA Professional from Jupiter.  Mark finished the event at even par (69-69-75=213), after heading into the final round four under.  The aftermath of tropical storm Philippe, whose outer bands moved through Naples late Saturday evening, left behind gusty conditions for the final round of competition

This was the first time Mielke won this event, capturing the title by one shot over defending Champion Mike San Filippo and Laurie Rinker.

Along with the countless PGA Professionals competing this week, there were a number of amateur golfers from all across the state.  The low amateur of the event was Greg Kielton of Oakland Park.  Kielton fired a three round total of 217 (72-75-70).

This event was presented by the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club and supported by JaniKing.
